Footloose is the story of Ren McCormack, a teenage boy from Chicago. He and his mother move to the small town of Bomont after his father abandons them. Upon arriving, Ren finds himself at odds with most of the town, including the Reverend Bomont. The Reverend has convinced the town to outlaw dancing, which Ren finds unbelievable. With the help of the Ariel (the Reverend’s daughter) and Willard (a country hick who becomes his best friend), Ren convinces the Reverend to let the teenagers dance, and in the process helps the town to heal from a tragedy that affected them all.

Enrollment for this play will be limited to 20 participants.

The Outsiders is a coming-of-age novel by S. E. Hinton, first published in 1967 by Viking Press. Hinton was 15 when she started writing the novel but did most of the work when she was 16 and a junior in high school. Hinton was 18 when the book was published. The book details the conflict between two rival gangs divided by their socioeconomic status: the working-class "greasers" and the upper-class "Socs". The story is told in first-person perspective by teenage protagonist Ponyboy Curtis. Universal themes of friendship and family, societal prejudices and divisions, empathy, honour, self-identity vs. group identity are explored. This staple of high-school literature has been beautifully adapted for the stage and we are thrilled to offer it to our Teen Troupe.

Due to the nature of this play and to retain its integrity, we willl be limiting enrollment to a maximum of 18 participants.
