The Outsiders was written by a teenager about teenagers and deals with issues that are very close to the hearts of teens, whether in the 1960s when this book was written or today.

The Outsiders is about two weeks in the life of 14 year old Ponyboy Curtis and his struggles with right and wrong in a society in which he believes that he is an outsider. The play explores the conflict between the Greasers, a class term that refers to the young men on the East Side, the poor side of town and the Socs or Socials, the rich kids.

Worlds collide when Cherry meets Dallas and develops a friendship with Ponyboy....both feel like Outsiders within their social group but share a love of literature, popular music, and sunsets. They are able to transcend, however temporarily, the feud between their respective groups. Ultimately, social and class disparity have fatal consequences and the pointlessness and destructiveness of this chasm is explored as are the timeless themes of loyalty and friendship.

Due to the nature of this play and to retain its integrity, we willl be limiting enrollment to a maximum of 18 participants.
